About Me

I’m a qualified professional Garden Designer based in Great Missenden, Buckinghamshire and I’ve been gardening for over twenty years on all sorts of sites and conditions. I’ve grown a lot of plants! And I love using my own garden to find out what grows well and easily in the clay and flint soils of the Chilterns.

After having my children, I decided to change my long career working in creative roles in broadcast television and follow my passion. In 2016 I started a three year course at Capel Manor College, London to retrain as a Garden Designer and I qualified in 2019.

Designing gardens and creating opportunities for people to spend time in nature is a real passion for me. Caring for plants and outdoor space can feel a bit overwhelming, but with the right design that reflects how much time you can spend on your garden, as well as a range of plants that are genuinely easy to take care of, I can help you create a sanctuary you’ll be very happy to say is yours.

I am currently undertaking the professional accreditation process with my professional body, The Society of Garden Designers, and have passed two of three projects. I hold Public Liability and Professional Indemnity insurance.

Testimonials

‘Booked Laura for a Garden Design and every step of the way has been fantastic. The engagement and scope setting was collaborative and the drawings were exceptional. What’s been translated into reality is beyond what we expected. The garden is a delight to be in’

MF, Wendover

‘We are so delighted with the garden that Laura has designed - we love spending time in it. She really listened to everything that we wanted and gave us something so beautiful that meets the needs of 2 big dogs, all the pollinators we want to encourage and our family! Laura really cares about the whole process - from the design, to helping with the landscaper, to sourcing and setting out plants.’

RM, Seer Green

‘Laura was great to work with. She took the time to understand what we wanted and the whole process felt very collaborative. Her communication was excellent throughout the project, outlining the various stages and keeping to her timings. She spent considerable time researching the area and selecting native plants. She was open about costs and helped us to find an excellent contractor to do the work. We are extremely pleased with our new garden.’

PO, Beaconsfield

‘We are really enjoying working with Laura. We have recently renovated a mid century home that sits within a walled garden that was once the vegetable patch of a manor house. It was completely overgrown and unstructured and we gave Laura a brief of "create a mid century, LA tropical, easy to manage and dog friendly garden please!". No mean feat!

The whole process has been so fun and collaborative. Laura completely understood our vision as well as our lifestyle and needs. The results are a well considered design that compliments the architecture of our renovation. There are different zones for different purposes; entertaining, relaxing, meditating, growing vegetables and a secure space for play time with our beloved dog.

The planting plan gives us all year round foliage as well as providing privacy from our neighbours. Laura provides us with all the tips and know how that we need in order to care for our garden which is a huge help since this is the first garden my husband and I have ever had of our own.

We couldn't recommend, Laura enough. She is so knowledgable, passionate and thoughtful in her creations. She's also really lovely to have a cuppa tea with! :)’

SB, Great Brickhill

‘Laura created an amazing family garden for us this year. Starting with an initial visit and brief through to design options, final technical drawings and planting plan working to our budget. Laura sees through each stage from the design and budget to communicating and site visits with landscaping contractors and finally planting.

Laura really listened to our brief took on our likes and dislikes incorporating in the final design down to the choice of plants and trees for the space. I only wish we could do the project again, Thank you!’

HP, Chalfont St Peter

‘I have no hesitation in recommending Laura to redesign any garden. Laura really took the time to understand what we wanted from our garden, and our likes and dislikes. She had so many wonderful design ideas whilst keeping to a reasonable budget.

She has designed and planted us a garden that is absolutely stunning but also works practically for our family. Her knowledge of plants is fantastic and the comprehensive 'how to care for each new plant' guide she has written for us is just the icing on the cake. Thanks so much Laura!’

AH, Little Kingshill, Buckinghamshire

‘After a number of years staring at our very suburban, mostly lawned and sparsely planted garden we asked Laura to help us create a more joyful and interesting space that was also able to work for our young family, and with minimal maintenance.

Laura’s holistic approach to garden design means that her extensive horticultural knowledge informs bespoke recommendations for a garden that ideally suits the space as well as owner preferences.

The look of our garden is transformed, a previously boring, flat and shady space is now full of colour, height, and plant diversity.’

SF, Prestwood, Buckinghamshire

‘We are so pleased with how our gardens look. Laura’s service is first class. With the time, knowledge and advice she gave, we now have gardens which are perfect for exactly what we want from them.

KC, Little Kingshill, Buckinghamshire

‘I have been delighted in the transformation of my Mediterranean area.. you managed to create the vision that I had of how it should look .. the choice of all the plants were varied and just perfect for the area … it was fun doing the project and you did it extremely efficiently and delivered on time!

SB, Great Missenden, Buckinghamshire

‘Our previously well-loved garden had been neglected in the years before we purchased the house so we enlisted the help of Laura to bring the front garden back to its former glory.

The depth of Laura’s knowledge and understanding of plants is astonishing and she really took the time to plan the garden to ensure that it would reflect what we wanted. By redistributing our existing plants and interspersing many new ones, as well as planting numerous bulbs over the course of a few months, Laura has absolutely exceeded the brief.

We couldn’t be happier with the results and we’re excited to see how the garden develops over the next few years under Laura’s watchful eye!’
